Or problems with flashing. Midgie’s indicators stopped flashing but they all happily lit up. Relay problem.
Replacing the relay is easy. If replacing with the original Lucas “8FL” type then it a tool free job – head under the steering wheel, pop out the old, pop in the new.
A more modern, 3 terminal relay can be more reliable and is still pretty easy to fit.
The original plugs connect easily enough – light green / brown to 49A, green to 49. Then you just need a little earth flylead to 31. I used a ring terminal and secured it to the original relay’s mounting clip screw. Oh, and a nice cable tie to keep things neat and secure.
